Why do people choose burial versus cremation?
An individual's choice of burial over cremation is often based on family traditions and/or family beliefs.

What types of Cash Disbursements are needed at the time of the funeral and what if I do not have the cash up front to pay for them?

To assist the families we serve, Koch Funeral Home is more than glad to cover third party expenses for your family and we will place them on your account as a convenience.

Some cash disbursements may include:

  • Newspaper Obituary

  • Honorariums of Clergy, Vocalist, and Organist/Pianist.

  • Cemetery Charges

  • Certified Copies of Death Certificate

  • Etc.

Can Koch Funeral Home arrange funerals in other cities?
Yes. At Koch Funeral Home, we can help arrange and carry out services, no matter where. We work with funeral homes and churches in other cities to make the process as simple as possible for you.

Can Koch Funeral Home take care of our funeral if death occurs while we are out of town on vacation or on a business trip?

If a death occurs while one is away from Scio on a vacation or away for the winter months it is best to contact us first and we will contract with a reputable funeral home firm in the area you are located in to have your loved one picked up and returned home to Scio, Ohio.

We recently moved to the local area and have gotten to know the staff of Koch Funeral Home or witnessed their professional service and wish to use their funeral home instead. Can I transfer my pre-arrangements to Koch Funeral Home?
Yes. Our staff is experienced in transferring all types of pre-arrangements. We can prepare the necessary paperwork and provide copies of your new arrangements so that you can be assured your wishes will be carried out.  Our Funeral Directors will discuss all your plans and make transferring your pre-arrangements a smooth and simple process. Because we are locally owned and operated, you can feel comfortable knowing that the same people who handle your pre-arrangement will also take care of your loved one's funeral.

Will you help me with death benefits?
Yes. Filing for death benefits can be very emotional and confusing. That's why we're here to help by providing information before and after a death. Koch Funeral Home is experienced:

  • Life Insurance Death Benefits

  • Social Security Death Benefits

  • Veterans Death Benefits

I've heard a lot about burial services, but very little about cremations. I'd like to learn what's involved in the cremation process. Can you help me?
Yes. At Koch Funeral Home, we can offer your family the opportunity to have a traditional visitation and/or funeral service before cremation or cremation followed by a memorial service with facilities for private or public services.
